Hiswara Bunjamin & Tandjung works in association with Herbert Smith Freehills, which is the largest fully integrated law firm in the Asia Pacific region and with a leading market position in M&A, capital markets, finance and disputes.
Hiswara Bunjamin & Tandjung and Herbert Smith Freehills offer a unique "one firm" approach to Indonesian legal service. We have the longest and most established connection between an Indonesian law firm and international law firm, having worked together since 2000. Our combined teams have a reputation for top quality, commercially informed legal advice and the highest standards of client care, as well as a leading practice in wide range of transactions. Our Indonesian and international lawyers work day-in-day-out on an integrated basis combining first class Indonesian legal advice with an international standard of client care – a unique synergy in the Indonesian legal environment.
Herbert Smith Freehills's Indonesia practice is led by two partners, all of whom work exclusively on corporate and commercial matters and projects in Indonesia. David Dawborn is a partner of Herbert Smith Freehills and has been based in Jakarta since 1992. David is fluent in Bahasa Indonesia and has been based at Hiswara Bunjamin & Tandjung since its establishment. Brian Scott was based in Jakarta from 2004 to 2011 helping to develop the practice to the status it now has. In order to extend the scale, scope and reach of Herbert Smith Freehills's specialist Indonesia practice, and meeting the demand of our many regional clients, Brian relocated to Singapore in 2011 from where he continues to work on international transactions in Indonesia alongside the team at Hiswara Bunjamin & Tandjung.
